Sounders 2 schedule starts home heavy, ends on the road

Seven of the first eight USL matches are at Starfire Sports down in Tukwila.

In year two of the Seattle Sounders USL team a greater effort was made to align matches with the first team schedule. This should enable fringe MLS talent to get a bit more time with S2 and further their development. That and the new Western Conference with Rio Grande Valley FC, Swope Park Rangers and San Antonio (unnamed yet) lead to an interesting schedule.

"We're excited to begin S2's second campaign in the USL," said Sounders FC General Manager & President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey via press release. "One of the things we tried to do for 2016 was to schedule more S2 home matches following First Team contests, which gives our younger players at the MLS level better opportunities across both teams. Aligning the schedules further implements our vertical integration approach, which we believe is critical to our player development process."

S2 opens with five straight matches at home. First up is Sacramento Republic on Friday March 25th at 7:30 PM. Two of the next four home games are midweek.

As seems to be common these days Portland and Vancouver are faced more than twice, with a double-home-and-away format.

The season ends with four straight road games. The final is at the Swope Park Rangers (Sporting KC). That caps a stretch with seven of nine road games.

Overall there are three Monday games, three Tuesday games, two Wednesday games, three Thursday games, three Friday games, nine Saturday games and nine Sunday games for 32 total played. Five of the home games are Monday-Thursday. Season tickets range from 135-165 dollars. There is also an 8-game flex pack for $100.
