Sounders’ Academy player called into U16s

Azriel Gonzalez part of 23-man roster to compete in the IMG Cup: Boys Invitational in Florida.

Sounders Academy player Azriel Gonzalez is among the players selected to the U16 USYNT for the IMG Cup: Boys Invitational in Bradenton, Florida.

The 15-year-old forward is coming off of a very successful season for the Academy. He scored five goals in nine appearances for the U15/16 side, managing an impressive 66% shot percentage. In his one match playing up for the U17/18 he also managed a goal. On top of all that he led the Sounders’ U16s in scoring at the Youdan Trophy in England, which they won.

This is Gonzalez’ second major call up. He traveled with the U.S. U16s to France for the Val-De-Marne Tournament in October but was an unused sub in all three matches. Gonzalez has scored everywhere he has played and will certainly be eager to show that prowess in front of goal for the National Team.
