Three young Sounders called into United States U18s

Two defenders, one Goalkeeper will represent the Seattle Sounders Academy at U.S. U18 camp.

After a recent set of call ups that saw no Sounders tapped for the United States U20s the Sounders organization will be glad to have three youth players at the upcoming U18 camp in Bradenton, FL. Trey Muse (Goalkeeper), Jake Morris (Left back), and Stirling Russell (Right back) will all get a chance to prove their worth to Omid Namazi who has pegged the Jan. 23-30 camp as more of a fact finding mission than a full-blooded preparation for competitive matches. The U18s are slated to play the U17s in residency at IMG Academy.

Trey Muse has been with the Sounders Academy since 2015 and this is his first National Team call up since he moved to Seattle from Louisville’s Derby City Rovers. This is Stirling Russell’s first USYNT camp while Jake Morris is fresh off a recent stint in camp for the U.S. U19s. Russell came to the Sounders Academy from Eastside FC. Morris, like Muse, is an out-of-catchment area talent. Morris last played at Weston FC.

Morris, no relation to Jordan, played for S2 in 2016 and should be expected to get time there in 2017.

This camp seems to be functioning as a sort of tryout for new/fringe youth internationals who will be looking to earn themselves a spot on the plane headed to Slovakia in April for the Slovakia Cup, something all three Sounders will certainly be setting their sights on.
