Thanks to a victory in wintry Colorado Springs last Saturday Seattle Sounders FC 2 are above the red line for the first time in a number of weeks. They have a real chance to continue to build on the positives of that performance as they come up against the lowly Portland Timbers 2. T2 has managed just one win this year and have only managed to beat S2 once in their history: S2 are 9-1-0 against T2. #TheFuture is truly brighter in Seattle.
T2 are a team that attempt a high volume of passes, averaging 470 passes per 90 vs. S2’s 390. They prefer to build slowly from the back and avoid using the long ball. S2 executed a perfect game plan against T2 in their first meeting this year, completely clogging the middle with Ray Saari and Francisco Narbón, forcing T2 to try and bypass the midfield with ineffective long balls. It is a strategy S2 should continue to use in this match until T2 prove they can beat it.
