Sounders 2 at Rio Grande Valley FC: live stream, game time, and lineups

S2 look to continue winning ways against Rio Grande Valley FC.

Seattle Sounders FC 2 are in the far southern tip of Texas to face Rio Grande Valley FC at the close of what was a scorcher. The temperature at kickoff will be just starting its descent below 90°F (32°C).

The two teams are of similar quality, sitting around 15 points with the other also-rans behind the 30 points of San Antonio FC and Real Monarchs SLC, though how they got there is quite different. RGV FC’s results are littered with games where 0 or 1 goal were scored while S2 has participated mostly in matches with 3, 4 and even 6 goals. Rio Grande Valley seems to be primarily concerned with keeping the opponent from scoring, and they have been fairly successful, allowing only 8 goals on the year (vs. S2’s 23). A quick goal would make this game a lot easier but S2 will need to avoid over exertion in the early heat.

Quite a few of the S2 players will have an eye toward their upcoming chance with the First Team in the US Open Cup. It will be interesting to see if any of the candidates are pulled out of the sweltering conditions early.

Keys to the Game:

  • Don’t run yourself out of the game early in the heat.
  • RGV don’t score a lot, don’t gift them an easy goal.
  • Take advantage of RGV’s weakness in the air.
