The last time Seattle Sounders FC 2 traveled to Colorado Springs the weather was more suited for Ice Hockey than anything else. There was over 6-inches of snow on the day and at game time there were winds approaching 35 knots. It was a predictably ugly game, but some moments of brilliance from Felix Chenkam got S2 the three points. Tonight’s game will also be played in less than ideal conditions with heavy rains expected and flash flood and mud slide warnings in effect across southern Colorado. Expect references to how much it rains in Seattle, despite recent record dry spells.
Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC are a team mired with S2 in the mid table crunch of mediocrity. Both teams are among the 7 with points in the low 20s who are realistically fighting for the last 3 playoff spots in the Western Conference. S2 could really use a result in this one, because, while they are currently in the playoff picture, the season is beginning to slide off the rails a bit. Colorado Springs are also in the midst of a struggle so this match offers S2 a good shot at steadying the course a bit.
