Sounders 2 at Orange County SC: live stream, game time, and lineups

If I’m honest, I am running out of new things to say for these game threads late in the year. Seattle Sounders 2 are still eliminated from the playoffs. This game is still about next year for the players; they are still fighting for their roles in 2019. With the surprise First Team heavy lineup on Wednesday a lot of S2 and Academy players will feature in this one. It’s going to be a fun, young lineup laden with tales from the future, so let’s enjoy it no matter the result because the task is going to be tough.

The youngster’s opponent tonight is the best team in the Western Conference, Orange County SC. Orange County still have a lot to play for as they try to fight off Phoenix for the first seed, so S2 will likely face the full brunt of a talented OC team. They have far and away the best offense in the league, averaging more than 2 goals per match. They have the leading goalscorer in the Western Conference in Thomas Enevoldsen and the leader in assists and chances created in Aodhan Quinn. Look, it’s gonna be tough, a bunch of S2 defenders will need to have their best game of the season to stymie the OC offense, but there is hope. OC have struggled against the lowest teams in the table this year. Their only loss since July 7 came against the team one place ahead of S2 — RGV FC, and their one draw since then came against, you guessed it, S2. It is not an impossible task, so let’s go slay some USL giants.
