Last weeks loss was a tough one for Seattle Sounders FC 2 but they need to refocus quickly and try to get a result in their second ever trip to Reno. Last season Reno 1986 were one of the top teams in the western conference but they look to be a bit more pedestrian this season. Even though it is early in the season still, S2 are quickly sliding out of the playoff picture and must start to get some results, even just draws, away from home. Though they will have to put their other trip to Greater Nevada Field, where they lost 6-0, this is a game where S2 can start to build some confidence on the road. To get the result it will be key for S2’s defensive midfielders to limit the space Antoine Hoppenot gets in front of the back four. If they can do that there is a good chance that Reno can be held scoreless.
For their part S2 looks like it could be missing some key players, but also getting a few reinforcements from the first team. While nothing is official, both Rodrigue Ele and Sam Rogers look to be carrying injuries and it is unlikely either starts. That means S2 will likely be starting at least one Academy player, and possibly two, in the middle of the backline. That makes it even more important for the DMs to protect the backline. Three first teamers, Waylon Francis, Harry Shipp and Lamar Neagle, signed loan agreement this week and it is likely they will each get some minutes.
