Seattle Sounders 2 at Portland Timbers 2: live stream, game time, and lineups

S2 hope to continue improved form against rivals

Kayla Mehring / Sounder at Heart

What is left of Cascadia 2 cup wraps up its 2018 edition today as Seattle Sounders 2 head to Portland for the first and last time this season to take on Portland Timbers 2. The two side have faced off twice this season in Tacoma, with each getting a one goal win, T2’s being their first ever result in Washington. S2 will look to avenge that loss with a win in Portland. T2 are the only team in the USL that S2 have truly dominated in their four year history with a 11-2-0 +13 record against the Oregon side.

This T2 side is much different than in previous years though. They are no longer the laughing stock of the league and sit comfortably in playoff position with a 12-10-3 record. That said they are weaker at home than away so this may be a good opportunity for S2 and their improved form of late to get a win. T2 is not a great defensive side but they excel on offense, averaging just a shade under 2 goals per 90. S2’s resurgent offense should be able to get some goals in Portland but they will need a good game on defense to keep the potent T2 offense at bay.

The main threat the S2 CBs will need to limit is Foster Langsdorf, who is second in the golden boot race with 11 goals on the season. If they can keep him off the score sheet S2 could steal one down south.

Keys to the Game

  • Stop Langsdorf
  • Press together
  • Use Ulysse’s forward runs

It’s a very young lineup, one of the youngest in the history of USL. AOC is getting his first start as a pro. Hinds at left back with Usman in front of him will create a different look on the left side.

David Olsen is suspended due to his two yellows in the last match. Rogers and Burke-Gilroy are nursing injuries and unable to start, though might be able to play a few minutes if necessary. Felix Chenkam is still carrying a hamstring injury.

Castro, Kingston and Brisco are all still members of the Academy system and starting. Fowler and Atenacio round out the limit of five Academy players active in a match. Pay particular attention to Brisco, who serves well as a utility defender in any role.
