Tacoma Defiance vs Sacramento Republic FC: live stream, game time, and lineups

Defiance look to end three game losing streak.

The Defiance are up against their first bit of schedule congestion tonight, playing just three days after their match against New Mexico FC. It looks like there will be quite a bit of rotation at Cheney as six new Sounders players, Bryan Meredith, Will Bruin, Nouhou, Román Torres, Handwalla Bwana and Jordy Delem, entered into 2019 Standard USL Loan Agreements earlier today. This likely serves to both give some Tacoma players a rest and to get some less used First Team players time ahead of their three games in eight days starting on Saturday.

This hybrid team will face off against Sacramento Republic FC who are 2-0-1 this season. The Republic have the makings of a good defensive team this year, having allowed just 2 goals so far. With the reinforcements Tacoma is receiving this will likely be a low scoring affair. If the Defiance can score their third goal of the season they will have a decent chance to walk away with points. All-time the Defiance are 1-10-1 -14 against Sacramento so a win or a tie tonight will be the Defiance’s second of either against Republic.

The main job of the Defiance’s night will fall to the centerbacks. Republic forward Cameron Iwasa has four of their 6 goals and assisted on one of the two he didn’t score. That’s not to say that Sacramento are one dimensional in attack, but if the centerbacks can keep Iwasa wrapped up the Defiance should have a good shot at leaving Cheney with a shutout.

Keys to the Game:

  • Stop Iwasa
  • There are lots of new faces so keep things simple.
  • Chances will be limited, finish them.

Lineups

Did not expect there to be this many First Team players in the lineup, should be interesting. Danny Leyva is the only Tacoma player in the starting lineup.
