Tacoma Defiance at Las Vegas Lights FC: live stream, game time, and lineups

The Defiance look for their first road result in the City of Lights (not the one in France).

The positive thing is that the Tacoma Defiance get to play Las Vegas Lights FC before the scorch of the Mojave Desert summer has truly arrived. It will be a near-tundra like 73°F when the sides kick off just east of Las Vegas Boulevard. The negatives are that, well, Tacoma has only lost on the road this season and they will be missing a not-insignificant part of their 19-man roster to the GA Cup, which kicked off earlier today. All players born on or after January 1, 2002 are eligible to participate. The Sounders FO has generally prioritized youth tournaments, so they will likely send most — if not all — of Danny Robles, Danny Leyva, Josh Atencio, Ray Serrano and Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez to compete in the Champions Division in Frisco. The Defiance bench will be short, but with things going sideways in Colorado this week there might be a few more first teamers available to play in Vegas... if they can be convinced to travel again.

Some more fortunate news is that Vegas has a worse record (1-3-1) than Tacoma. The two sides met twice last year, each winning their home game. Unlike last year, Vegas has a decent defense but a horrific offense, only scoring a goal every 112 minutes. At this point in the season teams with poor attacking are the best matchup for Tacoma as their defense continues working to gel. Former Sounders 2 player Irvin Parra looks to be the danger man for the Lights, because although he has only scored one goal, he averages almost four shots per game and almost two key passes. Tacoma’s defensive midfielders will need to watch for him to pop up between the lines.

Keys to the Game

  • Keep track of Irvin Parra
  • Cover for each other
  • One goal could win it, so don’t be too aggressive the whole 90
