The Tacoma Defiance have been forced to push back Wednesday’s match against Reno 1868 after a positive Covid-19 test in the organization. The match will instead be played on Thursday in Reno.
Although this is the first positive Covid-19 test within the Defiance organization, it is at least the third such result from the Sounders. Back in March, the Sounders reported that a member of the support staff had tested positive but that they had limited interactions with players around the time they were infected. Shortly after the Sounders re-started training, they reported that a player had tested positive. It was believed that the individual was infected prior to camp reopening.
That this match has been rescheduled so quickly suggests that it may not have been a player who tested positive, but there were no further details provided.
Interestingly, this is the second time a match between the Defiance and Reno has been postponed. In July, a positive test from the Reno camp forced a match to be rescheduled shortly after the season had been restarted. That game was eventually played nearly three weeks later.
