Seattle Reign original and Welsh legend Jess Fishlock will be returning for a 14th season, the club announced on Monday morning. The midfielder has signed a one-year contract extension, as she had expressed was her intention to do upon announcing her retirement from international play last month.

“I’m not done yet,” said Fishlock in a team release. “This club means everything to me – the people, the supporters, the staff and my teammates. I love competing for Seattle and giving everything I have to this group, and I truly believe in what we’re building here. I’m excited to run it back in 2026 with this world-class club.”

The 2021 NWSL MVP and an NWSL Best XI selection in five seasons, Fishlock holds several team records, including regular-season goal contributions (78) and team assists (30), is third in league history in regular-season minutes played behind only Alyssa Naeher and Reign teammate Lauren Barnes, and is only two regular-season appearances behind McCall Zerboni for second-most in league history (217).

“Jess sees the game at a level that very few players do, and that comes from years of experience at the highest level,” said Reign Head Coach Laura Harvey in the release. “Her tactical awareness, ability to adapt in big moments and commitment to elevating the players around her will continue to drive this team forward. She leads by example every single day, and having her experience and presence in the locker room is invaluable as we push into 2026.”

Playing more often as a substitute in 2025, Fishlock still brought game-changing creativity to her appearances, registering six goals and two assists to claim the team’s golden boot award and notch her highest goal total since the 2017 season.
