RENTON, Wash. – Immediately after the Seattle Sounders' press conference where they introduced Pedro de la Vega to the media, GM Craig Waibel sat down with Sounder at Heart to explain some of the details around the signing.

Waibel said after his first meeting with de la Vega he knew that was the player the Sounders needed to sign. It did not come together quite as quickly as they had hoped, but he's clearly very happy to have it finished.

Sounders’ newest signing looks and acts the part of a cornerstone player.

Waibel also insisted that this was a move designed primarily to help the Sounders win a championship, not one designed to return a big transfer fee.

It's not at all hard to get excited about this move and what it means for the future of the Sounders.
