Pedro de la Vega transfer is ‘Fab official’

It's not yet officially official

While there’s still no official announcement on Pedro de la Vega’s transfer to the Seattle Sounders, Fabrizio Romano has effectively given the next best thing. The famed transfer insider says the deal has now been completed, with Lanús retaining a 20% sell-on fee. Another report indicated that the deal was through 2027 with an option for 2028.

De la Vega will likely head to the Seattle area this week – if he's not already here – to go through a physical and sign paperwork before heading back to Argentina to join their U23 team for an Olympic qualifying tournament.

Previous reports had suggested the Sounders would pay anywhere from $6 million to $7 million for 60-70% of his rights, so it's unclear if they ended up agreeing to a higher fee to keep a bigger percentage of any future move. The Sounders had hoped to get this move finalized before they headed home for their winter break, but negotiations dragged out for much longer than anticipated, presumably over details like this.
