Seattle Reign FC’s final remaining free agent from last season is returning for 2024, with the club announcing on Thursday that midfielder Nikki Stanton has signed a new one-year deal.
“So pumped to be re-signing with the Reign for a third season! It has been an absolute honor playing for my hometown team and our incredible fans,” Stanton said in a team release. “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. See you at Lumen, Seattle! Can’t wait!”
The North Bend native has been with the Reign since 2022, making 43 appearances for the club in all competitions. Stanton started her pro career with Sky Blue FC in 2014 before moving to Chicago in 2018, and has played in 121 NWSL regular-season games in her 10-year career, as well as making four playoff appearances.
“Nikki has been such a stalwart in the league,” Reign General Manager Lesle Gallimore said in the release. “She provides a level of experience that we value, a defensive presence that positively impacts games and an uplifting attitude that is infectious.”
