The Seattle Sounders hosted the Columbus Crew on Sunday afternoon and played to a 1-1 draw. The details of the match were moot, as goalkeeper Stefan Frei sustained a serious injury on the final play of the game and eventually exited Lumen Field via ambulance. As others on this site have said, in words more eloquent than my own, the soccer of it all quickly takes a back seat when events like this reset our collective frame of reference. Here’s hoping Stef makes a full recovery, whatever that timeline may be.
