The Seattle Sounders will face their toughest league match since returning from Club World Cup when they visit Minnesota United tonight. The Loons currently occupy third place in the Western Conference, three points ahead of the Sounders. The Sounders can catch the Loons on points while still having a game in hand if they can pull off the road win.

The Sounders have been the league’s hottest team since the Club World Cup, going 7-0-3 across all competitions, which includes a franchise-record 26 goals in their past eight games. They’ve scored at least two goals in all but one of their past 10 matches.

The Loons are 5-3-3 over the same stretch, which includes a 1-1-1 record in Leagues Cup. They have been led by one of the best defenses in MLS, while employing an offense that has proven remarkably effective on set pieces.
