Seattle Reign FC will have a new look when they step onto the pitch at Lumen Field on Friday. The club announced today that Trupanion, a pet insurance company, will become the club's new front-of-kit sponsor through a multi-year agreement. Financial terms around the sponsorship deal were not disclosed.

The new Trupanion-branded jerseys will make their debut this Friday, October 10, when the Reign host Bay FC. Fans can bring their 2025 Reflection or Rise kits to the match to get the Trupanion logo added at no cost.

The partnership brings together two organizations with local roots. Trupanion, which provides medical insurance for cats and dogs, is headquartered in Seattle and led by CEO and President Margi Tooth. The company launched in 2000 and currently serves over 1 million pets across the U.S., Canada, and parts of Europe.

“We're proud to partner with Trupanion, a Seattle-based and women-led company that shares our values and vision,” said Maya Mendoza-Exstrom, the Reign's chief business officer. “This partnership reflects the strength of our community – innovative, inclusive and rooted in equity – and we’re excited to build something that goes beyond the jersey to inspire fans, uplift women and celebrate the special bond we all share with our pets.”

As the Sports Business Journal notes, this sponsorship marks Trupanion's first deal in sports — the company historically marketed its services via veterinarians.

“The power of sports and pets both lie in their ability to bring people together, to create shared moments of joy and memories to last a lifetime,” said Trupanion's Tooth. “Whether it’s the shared thrill of the game or the unconditional love of a pet, both uplift our spirits and strengthen our sense of connection. We’re excited to partner with the Reign to celebrate that bond.”

Many Reign players have pets themselves.

“As someone who has always had pets in my life, I know firsthand the comfort and emotional support they bring. That’s why this partnership with Trupanion feels so special. It’s exciting to see another Seattle-based, values-driven company invest in our sport, and we’re proud to carry their name on our kits,” said Reign captain and club original Lauren Barnes.

While taking on a new jersey sponsor, the Reign also recognizes the historical significance of its partnership with the Black Future Co-op Fund, a Washington nonprofit focused on improving the health and well-being of Black Washingtonians. From 2022 to 2024, the Reign donated its front-of-kit position to the Black Future Co-op Fund through a player-led initiative — a departure from traditional sponsorship arrangements in professional sports.

The Black Future Co-op Fund continues as one of the Reign's RISE for Community partners, and the Reign will donate an additional $10,000 to the organization, with Trupanion matching the contribution.
