After a pause in play last weekend for an international window, the NWSL has finally reached the end of the regular season. Decision day features five matches kicking off simultaneously, with the eighth and final playoff spot to be decided between Louisville and North Carolina and five teams still in contention for the third and fourth place positions and the right to host a quarterfinal match.
The Reign face Orlando in the season finale for the third time in four years. Seattle and the Pride have both clinched their spots in the 2025 postseason, but a lot is still riding on the result of today’s game. The winner will secure third place and a home quarterfinal match next weekend, while the loser still has a slight chance of a top-4 finish but will be at the mercy of results in three other games – they could finish as low as 7th, where they would travel to face Washington in the opening round. And a draw could see both teams fall out of the top four spots.
Seattle holds a 7-5-7 advantage in the all-time series, with 30 goals scored and only 21 conceded, but the Pride have had the better of recent matches. Earlier this year they defeated the Reign 1-0 at Lumen Field thanks to a Barbra Banda goal, and they won both matchups last season by 3-2 scorelines en route to winning the NWSL Shield and Championship.

Keys to the game
- Strike early, strike often
- Limit Orlando’s long balls and crosses
- Win it (again) for Lu!
Notes
- Don’t forget to check your clocks – Daylight Saving Time ended overnight!
- Lynn Biyendolo is now officially out for the season after announcing her pregnancy last weekend. Although Sam Meza withdrew from last week’s US National Team camp due to a mild hamstring strain, she has recovered and is available for selection today, and Sally Menti has also recovered from her injury.
- Madison Curry, Maddie Dahlien, Claudia Dickey and Sam Meza have each appeared in every regular season match so far this year, and Dickey has played every minute.
- The other games Reign fans should be keeping an eye on for seeding and potential playoff opponents are Current vs. Wave, Thorns vs. Dash and Courage vs. Gotham. San Diego, Portland and Gotham are each within two points of the Reign and each has the goal differential tiebreaker over the Reign should they finish level on points.
More than three points on the line in our last regular season test ⚡️
