Coming off a year in which he had 18 goals and five assists across all competitions — nearly doubling his previous season high during his eight professional seasons — Danny Musovski has seen his profile improve significantly. Now, at 30 years old, he could be in line for his first international cap and might even put himself in position to play in the 2026 Men’s World Cup.

Among those paying attention to Musovski’s breakout performance is Masar Omeragić, the president of the North Macedonia football federation. Earlier this week, he announced that Musovski would be among the players North Macedonia intends to call up for an upcoming World Cup qualifier against Denmark on March 26. If North Macedonia were to win that game, they’d only need to win one more match against Czechia or Ireland to qualify for the country’s first World Cup as an independent nation. They had previously been part of Yugoslavia until 1990.

North Macedonia are the underdogs of the group, with a FIFA ranking of 66. Denmark is the top team at 21, Czechia is 44 and Ireland is 59.

During the initial phase of UEFA qualifying, North Macedonia finished third in a five-team group that included Belgium, Wales, Kazakhstan and Liechtenstein. They went 3-1-4 with a 13-10 goal differential, but lost their final qualifier to Wales, 7-1.

North Macedonia's roster is mostly filled with players who compete on smaller teams around Europe, with a few notable exceptions. Among their top players are Napoli's Eljif Elmas and captain Enis Bardhi, who plays in Turkey with Konyaspor. None of the players in North Macedonia's striker pool have a season nearly as prolific as Musovski's 2025.

Although Musovski was born in Nevada, both of his parents are North Macedonia citizens which immediately makes him eligible to play.
