The Seattle Sounders are now worth $915 million, according to an estimate from Sportico, one of two organizations who publish annual MLS team valuation estimates. That makes them the sixth most valuable club, one spot higher than they were last year after jumping Austin FC, after receiving an 11% bump.
The Sounders' increase was the fifth most, not counting San Diego FC, which wasn't included in last year's ranking.
Adrian Hanauer, Joe Roth and Drew Carey paid a $30 million expansion fee to join MLS in 2008.
Collectively, MLS teams are worth more than $22.5 billion with an average valuation of about $767 million. That still lags well behind the other four major men's sports leagues in North America, but Inter Miami ($1.45 billion) and LAFC ($1.4 billion) are now estimated to be worth more than a handful of NHL and Major League Baseball teams.
