The Seattle Sounders punched their ticket to the Concacaf Champions League quarterfinals with a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps that gave them a 5-1 aggregate-goal victory in the series. The Whitecaps managed to make it interesting when they scored in the first half to make it 3-1 on aggregate, but the Sounders shored up their defense and then added a pair of second-half goals by Danny Musovski and Paul Rothrock to finish it out.
This marks just the second time the Sounders have won both legs of a CCC series and also runs their home unbeaten streak to 17 games, tying a franchise record they’ve previously achieved twice (from 2017-18 and 2020-21).
They will next face the winner of the FC Cincinnati-UANL Tigres Round of 16 series that concludes on Thursday. Cincinnati takes a 3-0 lead into Mexico.
