It was a pretty terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad Seattle home opener for the Reign, who fell 3-0 to the Utah Royals at Lumen Field on Sunday evening. The Reign conceded two goals in the opening seven minutes of the match, dominated for the rest of the half but couldn't score, then allowed a third goal just before halftime.
Things went from bad to worse in the second half, as Jess Fishlock was taken to the hospital after badly rolling her ankle as she accidentally blocked Maddie Mercado's shot and landed awkwardly on her left leg.
The Reign (3-2-1) finished the weekend in fourth place and will head on the road to face the Houston Dash (3-2-0) in their next match. That game kicks off Friday, May 1, at 5 p.m. PT and will air on Victory+.
