Almost defying a certain amount of logic in regards to injuries, playing on the road and fixture congestion, the Seattle Sounders are off to their second-best start in history. Although they’ve now started playing home games again and the schedule has cleared up, the injury bug continues to haunt them.

Each coming off what was likely their two best performances of the season, Cristian Roldan and Albert Rusnák both picked up injuries. Roldan is in concussion protocol and has been ruled, while Rusnák is questionable with a hamstring injury that kept him from training in full this week. In addition to those two, Paul Arriola also picked up an adductor injury and has also been ruled out.

The good news is that the Sounders carry some impressive unbeaten streaks into today's game against FC Dallas. Overall, they are unbeaten in five with just one tie in that time. At home, they have a 19-game unbeaten streak that goes back to the Club World Cup. In home games against FC Dallas, you’d have to go all the way back to 2011 to find the last time the Sounders lost this fixture; an MLS-record stretch of 21 games.

Notes

  • Cristian Roldan is being honored during a pregame ceremony for becoming the club's first outfield player to reach 400 career appearances with the Sounders. Only seven players have appeared for their MLS team more often.
  • The Sounders hold an all-time record of 18–1–5 at home against FC Dallas.
  • Andrew Thomas is tied for second in MLS with five shutouts. The Sounders’ three goals allowed is the fewest in MLS.
  • This will be the 49th time the Sounders have faced FC Dallas in the regular season and playoffs. That's the most they’ve faced any opponent in those competitions.
