The Seattle Sounders hosted San Jose in a midweek match and immediately went behind. After Nick Fernandez scored in the 2nd minute, Seattle steadied, and went on to control the majority of the match. Jesús Ferreira gave the Sounders their first lead after an uncontested box-to-box run, followed by a bit of maziness and a clean finish. Substitute Osaze De Rosario gave Seattle their second (and decisive) lead, nodding home a Nouhou cross in the 89th minute to secure all three points.
