Beyond cost, fans raised concerns about the political climate and visa issues preventing supporters from countries in Africa and the Middle East from attending, calling it discriminatory and damaging to the spirit of the tournament.
Some are still holding out hope but it is clear that FIFA has missed the mark with pricing accessibly.
