RENTON — Jordan Morris is back on the injury list, again.
The Seattle Sounders forward was forced out at halftime of Thursday’s 5–0 loss to the Portland Timbers with a quadriceps injury. On Tuesday, Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer revealed that Morris would be out “a minimum” of four weeks. It was not immediately clear when the injury happened, but Morris did not look entirely himself during the 45 minutes he played and logged just five touches.
This is the second time this year that Morris will miss at least four games with a muscle injury after suffering a hamstring strain just a few minutes into the season opener. Those injuries have limited him to just 747 minutes across all competitions and he’s off to one of his least productive seasons of his career with one goal and three assists.
Even more frustrating is this seems to be a continuation of an injury-riddled 2025 in which he missed a total of 22 matches with three separate injuries. When healthy, he was productive, though, with seven goals and an assist in about 1,300 minutes. After returning from his second ACL injury, Morris missed just two games with injury over a three-year span from 2022–24.
Yeimar will travel
The one bit of promising news on the injury from is that centerback Yeimar Gomez Andrade is fit enough to at least travel with the Sounders during their upcoming trip to Austin and Philadelphia.
