Seattle Reign are back at Lumen Field on Sunday afternoon, hosting the Houston Dash in an important match. The game kicks off at 4 p.m. PT and will stream on the Roku Channel, a free-to-watch channel available on web browsers, Smart TVs, and mobile and Roku devices.
The Reign enter the weekend in 8th place, the final playoff spot, with a game in hand over several teams above them. The Dash are just two points behind the Reign in 10th place, although they have played one more match. With just 10 matches left in the season, every game matters if the Reign want to continue their playoff push. Sunday's game is the first of three straight home matches for the Reign, and the team will be looking to continue their good run of form at home.
The Reign are returning to Lumen Field following a 1-1 road draw against Kansas City where they went up early, gave up a penalty, then held on for the point. Despite creating several good chances, the Dash fell 1-0 on the road to Bay FC.
This will be the second meeting between the two clubs in 2026. The first was a scoreless draw in water-logged conditions in Houston where both sides had several chances but couldn't get beyond two strong goalkeeper performances.

Who to watch
Jane Campbell
The veteran goalkeeper is having a fantastic season. She is second in the league in total saves and has prevented a league-high 11.8 expected goals (xG). When the Reign faced the Dash on the road back in May, Campbell made five saves. The Reign did produce 16 shots and 1.74 xG that game, however, so with a little more precision, they could have found the back of the net. They'll need to find some better placement on Sunday to get beyond Campbell.

Kat Rader
Rader will certainly be one of the contenders for NWSL Rookie of the Year. She leads Houston with nine goals, but her instinct in front of the goal isn't the only thing that makes her dangerous. While Rader only has one assist, she leads the Dash in expected assists and chances created. Primarily lining up as an attacking midfielder for Houston, Rader can also play on the wing. The Reign will need to make sure they limit her time on the ball.
Avery Patterson
Right back Avery Patterson has consistently been one of Houston's best players since entering the league in 2024. She's been rewarded with several U.S. Women's National Team call-ups. Patterson is an attacking-minded fullback who leads the Dash with three assists. Watch for her overlapping runs and 1v1 dribbling from out of the back.

Patterson is also strong defensively. She leads the team in tackles and recoveries. However, she can get quite high in the attack, which could leave room for Maddie Dahlien on the counter.
What to Watch
Lots of speed in transition
Like the Reign, Houston has a very young team, and the 2026 rookie class changed Houston's attacking threats dramatically. This was a team that finished with the Reign at the bottom of the league in 2025 in goals and expected goals. Kate Faasse (2024 MAC Hermann winner) has given the Dash pace and finishing up top, and alongside Rader, Linda Ullmark, and Kiki Van Zanten, the Dash now are dangerous in transition. The Reign need to make sure they don't give the ball away in bad positions and they have lots of numbers defending.
Limiting Houston's holding midfielders
Houston has alternated between a 4-4-2 and a 4-2-3-1 lineup, finding success in both options. More recently, the Dash have been playing with two holding midfielders, Dani Colaprico and Maggie Graham. Graham had historically played a little bit higher, but according to Reign head coach Laura Harvey, the Dash are finding success in the attack because of the play of their two 6s. Colaprico has two assists while Graham has three goals and two assists. What the stats don't show is just how often these two make the pass before the assist.
"If you don't reflect and respect that, then I think they can hurt you," Harvey said. When asked about the game plan against this Houston side, she emphasized that the team is focused on "respecting what they're good at, trying to find weaknesses in how they play or in what we could expose," before again noting how much of their attacking success comes through Graham and Colaprico.
As the highlights from their 5-0 win over Chicago show, the double-pivot of Colaprico and Graham help the Dash build from deeper and create space.
Establish home-field dominance
After a rough start at Lumen Field before the World Cup, the Reign are undefeated in their three home matches since the summer break (2-0-1). Their match against Houston is the start of a three-game homestand. Can the Reign continue that homefield momentum and re-establish Lumen Field as a tough place for opponents? Sunday's match against Houston will be a good test.
"First, we always just talk about this game. We don't really think beyond that," Harvey noted. "But we want to make sure we can put on a good performance at home. We know how important points are at this stage of the season, so we always have a belief that if you put in the performance that we deem is good, then the chances of you getting that result are higher. So we're just really concentrating on that right now because we know that the points are premium, especially with the opponent that we're playing and being at home. But we're very process driven, so just really concentrating on this performance first."
