The Sounders managed to get the match to the 77th minute tied 0–0, but a defensive breakdown allowed the Whitecaps to grab the eventual game-winner through a Rayan Elloumi strike. They then added a goal through Tomas Müller, who scored off an indirect free kick after Nouhou was judged to have passed it back to Andrew Thomas.
