Reign vs Pride gamethread graphic. Kickoff at 2 pm PST, broadcast on ESPN+ and a kickoff forecast of 52 degrees and sunny.

For the fourth time in five years, the Seattle Reign face the Orlando Pride in an NWSL regular-season finale. In 2022, the Reign won the NWSL Shield at home by defeating the Pride, 3-0. A disappointing 2024 season ended with a 3-2 loss in Florida, while last season wrapped up with a 1-1 draw in Orlando followed immediately by a playoff game at the same venue one week later.

This year’s Pride have not been nearly as formidable as the Championship winning 2024 side or playoff contenders who knocked out Seattle last year – the team parted ways with head coach Seb Hines at the end of August after a string of 7 losses in 10 games coming out of the summer break. While the Pride have stabilized under interim head coach Yolanda Thomas, they have been eliminated from playoff contention and can only serve as spoilers in today’s game.

For the Reign, the aim is simple – a win assures them of a playoff spot with a finish somewhere between 6th and 8th place depending on other results. Any other result will require scoreboard watching: a draw means they need to hope the Courage drop points against Denver, while a Reign loss would see them eliminated from playoff contention unless the Summit and North Carolina draw.

The Reign opened the 2026 season in Orlando, earning a 2-1 win after a lengthy weather delay thanks to goals by Jess Fishlock and Brittany Ratcliffe. Last weekend Seattle drew Utah 0-0 on the road, while Orlando lost 2-1 to Gotham at home.

In addition to the game broadcast on ESPN+, the league will have a wraparound show on ESPN2 covering all eight simultaneous Decision Day games. Every single game being played today could have an impact on the playoff race – this game and the Courage/Summit game will decide the final playoff spot, while others will determine seeding and matchups for the quarterfinals, as well as who wins the NWSL Shield.

The Reign have everything to play for in Jess Fishlock's last regular season game.

Keys to the game

Notes

  • Jess Fishlock and Ryanne Brown are available for selection today despite dealing with minor issues which caused both of them to exit last weekend’s game at halftime.
  • Ahead of kickoff, the club will honor Fishlock as the recipient of the 2026 Lu Barnes award. There will also be special merchandise and numerous displays around the stadium in honor of Fishlock’s 14-year Reign career, along with a ceremony.
  • Phoebe McClernon will become the seventh player in club history to make 100 regular-season appearances for the Reign if she plays in today’s game.
  • Today marked the end of Daylight Saving Time, so be sure to adjust your clocks and arrive/tune in at the correct time!
  • While there are no other major events happening around the stadium today, the largest crowd of the season is expected for today’s game, with over 15,000 tickets distributed as of Thursday and sales continuing to be brisk since then.
  • A group of anti-LGBTQ activists are reportedly planning a stunt in or near the Royal Guard section at halftime, similar to the one which occurred in the supporters section in Portland and got them ejected from that venue last weekend.
