Reed Baker-Whiting has been called into the United States U20 camp that will include matches against Colombia (June 7) and Egypt (June 20). The camp is considered a warm-up for the U20 World Cup that will take place in Chile from Sept. 27-Oct. 19. He’ll remain with the Sounders through Sunday’s game against Minnesota United but will miss the match against the Vancouver Whitecaps on June 8.

Of the 22-player roster, 16 players are based in MLS with six others in Europe.

Baker-Whiting has 13 career caps with various youth national teams, including four with the U20s. He’s also participated in U23 camps.

Long considered a promising prospect, Baker-Whiting has been dealing with a variety of injuries over the past two seasons. This year, he’s been limited to just eight appearances and less than 350 minutes. Just 35 of those minutes have been with the Sounders. A year ago, he had about 1,000 minutes across various competitions for the Sounders and even made three playoff appearances while playing a variety of positions.
