Reign at Wave: Gamethread

Reign will visit San Diego at 7 PM PT on Prime Video.

Despite a week off from league play, it’s a very quick turnaround for many Seattle Reign players as they head straight from international duty to a Friday night match in San Diego against one of the hottest teams in the league. Seattle had a dozen players called into national teams, with over half of those players traveling back from Europe and only rejoining the team in the past day.

Reign head coach Laura Harvey has hinted that the starting lineup might see some significant rotation due to a combination of midweek national team matches, knocks picked up over the past two weeks, and significant travel burdens for some players.

In their most recent league games, the Reign fell at home to the Washington Spirit, 2-1, while the Wave thumped North Carolina at home by a 5-2 scoreline. Seattle has dominated the all-time series against the Wave, going 8-1-2 and scoring 16 goals while only conceding 6. That includes a 3-1-2 away record.
