Jordyn Bugg and Sam Meza are among the four Seattle Reign players who were named to the 25-player U.S. Women's National Team roster that will play three friendlies between June 26 - July 2. It is the first senior national team call-up for both players, who recently featured for the U-23 women's national team in two matches against Germany.
Claudia Dickey and Lynn Biyendolo were also named to the roster. Dickey has a strong chance to earn her first USWNT cap, as head coach Emma Hayes opted not to bring in European-based players like Phallon Tullis-Joyce, who just completed a busy season with Manchester United and could use a rest. The only exception is defender Naomi Girma, who plays for Chelsea and recently returned from injury.
The U.S. will first take on the Republic of Ireland on June 26 at DICK’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. On June 29, they'll head to TQL Stadium in Cincinnati for another match against Ireland. The team will conclude at Audi Field on July 2 with a match against Canada.
“Having four players called into the senior U.S. Women’s National Team — including first-timers Sam Meza and Jordyn Bugg — speaks volumes about the level of talent and commitment we have at this club. Whether it's Claudia and Lynn continuing to raise the bar, or Sam and Jordyn stepping onto the senior stage for the first time, we’re incredibly proud to see the Reign so well represented,” said Reign General Manager Lesle Gallimore in a team release.
Meza has won a Concacaf title at the U-15, U-17 and U-20 levels for the U.S. When she was just 18 years old, Reign head coach Laura Harvey called her up for the 2020 U-20 Concacaf championship. She would likely have played in the 2020 U-20 World Cup, but the tournament was cancelled due to the global pandemic. Meza also earned two caps with the U-23 WNT in 2022.

Bugg, the youngest player called up to the national team for these upcoming matches, featured in the U-20 World Cup last year. Along with Reign players Emeri Adames and Maddie Dahlien, she helped the U.S. earn a Bronze medal in that tournament.
Biyendolo brings the most experience of the four Reign players called up, with 80 caps and 24 goals. She is one of just six players included on the roster to have played in a world championship at the senior level. Most recently, Biyendolo scored a brace for the USWNT in the team’s 4-0 win over Jamaica.
In addition to Bugg and Meza, Gotham defender Lilly Reale and Kansas City defender Izzy Rodriguez are receiving their first senior call-up.
