Omar Hassan scored his second career MLS Next Pro goal and Jacob Castro made two saves in the penalty shootout, but it wasn’t enough to get the Tacoma Defiance more than a point against Minnesota United 2. Regulation ended 1-1 and Minnesota won the shootout 3-2.

Sebastian Gomez also picked up an assist on Hassan’s goal, off a beautiful throughball, and nearly set him up for another later in the game. Gomez has been on quite a tear for the past month or so, scoring four goals with two assists over his past six games.

The Defiance, who lead the Western Conference in both goals scored and goals allowed, are four points out of the final playoff spot with eight games left to play.
