The Seattle Sounders have a chance to get some revenge for arguably their worst and most embarrassing loss of the season. Despite missing a ton of players to international duty and sickness, the Whitecaps delivered a 3-0 win over the Sounders right before the start of the Club World Cup. The Sounders have been on a solid run ever since but will need a four-goal win in order to have any chance of reclaiming the Cascadia Cup.
Here’s what you need to know:

Opposition players to watch
- Brian White: The striker missed a month of action, but made his return on Wednesday by scoring a goal against the Timbers. That was his 21st goal across all competitions this season and his 15th of the MLS campaign, the second straight season in which he’s reached that mileston.
- Thomas Müller: After missing the last two games, the German midfielder is expected to be available for this one. Müller’s last appearance he scored a hat trick, giving him four goals in just three Whitecaps appearances.

Stats to look smart
56 — With 56 points, the Whitecaps already have set a new franchise record with four games left to play, topping their 2015 campaign in which they had 53 points. If they can win one more game, they’ll set a record for most wins in a season.
34 — The Sounders have already scored 34 goals at home this season, equalling their previous record they set in 2019. The Sounders will have three chances to break that record.
Tactics to impress
- Under Jesper Sorenson, the Whitecaps have managed to find the nearly perfect balance of possession attack-mindedness. The Whitecaps just don’t give away cheap goals and are relentless in the way they attack teams.
- The Sounders looked more like themselves on Sunday than they had in previous games, but were still not as clinical with their chances as they need to be. The chances will be there, but can they finish them?
