Seattle Reign midfielder Jess Fishlock and defender Sofia Huerta have been named to the NWSL Best XI for August. This marks the ninth Best XI of the Month honor for Fishlock and the eighth for Huerta.
Fresh off representing Wales in their first major tournament, where she scored their first UEFA Women's Euro goal, Fishlock tallied her 46th career NWSL goal and 30th career NWSL assist during the month. She scored three goals and added one assist in the Reign's five matches.
On August 24, Huerta became the NWSL’s all-time leader in assists, notching her 32nd career assist on the tying goal against the Houston Dash. August marked Huerta's first month back since returning from loan with Olympique Lyonnais, and she played every minute at either centerback or wingback to help the Reign earn two shutouts.
Fishlock and Huerta are now among just four players in league history to record at least 30 goals and 30 assists in regular-season play. Reign teammate Lynn Biyendolo and retired NWSL player Jess McDonald are the other two who have reached this milestone.
