Seattle Reign have signed midfielder Mikayla Cluff for the remainder of the 2025 season, the club announced on Saturday. She will be eligible for selection immediately, starting with tomorrow’s game at Washington.

The Utah native was originally drafted 14th overall by Orlando in the 2021 NWSL draft but opted to finish her senior year of college at BYU before joining the Pride in 2022. After two seasons in Florida, she was traded to the Utah Royals ahead of their inaugural season in 2024. Cluff and the Royals agreed to mutually terminate her prior contract earlier on Saturday.

“We’re excited to welcome Mikayla to the Reign,” said General Manager Lesle Gallimore in a team release. “She’s a talented midfielder with a strong work ethic and valuable NWSL experience. We believe her qualities will complement our group right away.”

Cluff was a top player in college at BYU, having been named a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy three times. She was a four-time All-American, three-time West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year and helped the Cougars win the 2021 NCAA Championship. She scored 53 goals and added 39 assists over 93 college games.

Reign head coach Laura Harvey confirmed in the team's pre-match press conference that Cluff sometimes trained with the Royals during the BYU offseason while Harvey was head coach there.

Across her NWSL career, Cluff has made 58 appearances, scoring four goals and recording one assist. While she started as an attacking midfielder, Cluff has been more of a defensive presence in recent seasons, ranking high in tackling and aerial duels while not contributing much in attack.
