The Seattle Sounders host the LA Galaxy in their first game since winning Leagues Cup. Among the teams the Sounders beat on their way to that title was the Galaxy, who they defeated in the semifinals, 2-0.
Unlike that previous meeting, Albert Rusnák is expected to be available for this one, but probably only off the bench. Most likely, the Sounders will field a starting lineup very similar to that previous meeting. One change will likely be Danny Musovski at forward. Musovski just so happened to score a brace the last time he faced the Galaxy, about five weeks ago.
The Galaxy are all but eliminated from the playoffs and are currently "leading" the Wooden Spoon race. They will also be missing several key contributors, although many of those players are why they are in this position in the first place.

- The Galaxy will be officially eliminated from the playoffs with a loss combined with a San Jose Earthquakes win or draw; a loss and a Houston Dynamo win; or a draw and a San Jose win.
- The Sounders are 10-1-4 across all competitions with 39 goals scored since the end of the Club World Cup.
