Seattle Reign and U.S. Women's National Team forward Lynn Biyendolo announced on Saturday that she and her husband, Marley Biyendolo, are expecting their first child.
"To our little blessing, you are already so loved," Biyendolo shared in an Instagram post that featured a video of the couple on their couch looking through various baby clothes.
"You are already such a light in this world. and your parents are already.. so embarrassing," the Reign forward wrote. "We love you more than you could imagine, Mom (mum) & Dad."
After years of dating, Lynn and Marley got married in December 2024, with a wedding in the United States and a separate ceremony in Australia, where he is from.
Biyendolo joined the Reign this offseason shortly after the second ceremony and missed the start of the regular season with an ankle injury. She went on to score two goals and notch an assist in nearly 800 minutes of play — becoming the NWSL's all-time leading goal-scorer at 82 goals.
Biyendolo has not featured in a match since August 24. At the time, the club said they were trying to figure out a lingering knee injury that got worse when she played on turf. While that appears to be the reason for her earlier absence, Biyendolo now has a new, more positive reason for missing the Reign's final matches of the season.
The 32-year-old has earned 83 caps with the USWNT, scoring 25 goals and earning a Gold medal with the U.S. in the 2024 Olympics. As reported by Pro Soccer Wire, USWNT coach Emma Hayes was asked about the Reign forward's news at a press conference on Saturday. She emphasized the impact that Biyendolo has made on the USWNT before celebrating the exciting news for the Biyendolo family.
"Even in my time here, she's come from the bench in almost every situation we've been in and made a major impact," Hayes said. "So first of all, that's my challenge to my own team. How are we going to fill that void with her absence? But second of all, I'm delighted for her. She is an old soul who will be an incredible mum, and if she so chooses to continue playing her career, we will be here to support that."
