Cristian Roldan has been named to the MLS Best XI, marking the first time he’s ever been honored with one of the league’s end-of-year awards. Roldan is the 11th Sounders player to earn Best XI honors.
Roldan is coming off his first full season as a defensive midfielder, finishing eighth in the league with 46 tackles won and fifth in tackles+interceptions (119). On top of his defensive contributions, he was also one of the league’s top passers. He had nine assists, completed 91.1% of his passes, ranked fourth in MLS with 274 passes into the final third and was seventh with 243 progressive passes.
Roldan’s play has helped get him back into contention for the United States World Cup squad, where he’s been one of the standout players during each of the past two international windows.
The 30-year-old is also the first 10-year veteran to earn their inaugural Best XI honor since Diego Chara in 2020.
