Seattle Reign FC today announced the club’s roster decisions for the 2026 season. The club has 23 players returning from their 2025 roster and announced the addition of midfielder Sofia Cedeno on Monday.
Lauren Barnes, Hanna Glas and Veronica Latsko each announced their retirements, while Ji So-Yun and Julia Lester will become free agents once their loans conclude at the end of the calendar year. Mikayla Cluff and Ana-Maria Crnogorčević are also out of contract, while the club and Olivia van der Jagt agreed to mutually terminate her contract, which was originally set to run through 2026. The club does not expect any of those players to return next season and has wished them well on social media.
With those departures and the addition of Cedeno, the team has two open roster spots and two available international slots, plus two more potential short-term roster spots. One short-term spot is available due to Lynn Biyendolo starting 2026 on maternity leave, while the other spot is potentially available because goalkeeper Cassie Miller, who had been on the short-term injury list for the latter half of 2025, has now been moved to the season-ending injury list as she continues her recovery from a leg injury suffered in training in June.
The team also announced that goalkeeper Neeku Purcell, the first Reign Academy player to sign with the club, signed a new contract for the 2026 season. Purcell was a short-term replacement player in the second half of 2025 following Miller’s injury.
The 22-year-old started her professional career with Brooklyn FC in the Gainbridge Super League, where she featured in 17 matches and recorded four clean sheets during the league’s inaugural season.
“We are thrilled to extend Neeku’s time with the Reign,” said Reign General Manager Lesle Gallimore. “She stepped into an important role for us during the 2025 season, providing crucial roster relief and demonstrating composure beyond her years.
Purcell came to Brooklyn FC following two standout years at UCLA, where she conceded just 13 goals in 27 appearances. Purcell has represented the United States at various youth levels. She was called into the U.S. U-23 training camp in Europe at the end of November, joining Reign teammates Emeri Adames and Maddie Dahlien and starting in a 4-2 win over the England U-23s.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue my journey with my hometown club,” said Purcell in a team release. “Growing up in Seattle and coming through the Reign Academy, it means a lot to be part of this environment every day. I’ve learned so much from our goalkeeper corps and coaching staff, and I’m excited to continue developing while representing Seattle next season.”
