Lumen Field will host the U.S. Women’s National Team this spring for the first time since 2017, bringing one of the best women's soccer rivalries to Seattle. On Tuesday, April 14, at 7 p.m. PT, the U.S. will host Japan, and unlike the last time the USWNT played at Lumen Field, this match will be on a grass surface installed for the 2026 Men’s World Cup.

Reign season ticket members can opt into the USWNT match as part of their season ticket package and keep their original seats. They'll also have the option to purchase additional tickets on January 27. It's a bit of good news after members learned that the first three Reign home matches were moved to Spokane so grass could be installed at Lumen Field ahead of the World Cup. New season ticket memberships will automatically include the USWNT ticket.

Season ticketholders will get emails from their representatives outlining two approaches they can take:

  • Opt into the USWNT game and receive account credit equal to the two missing home matches — allowing them to purchase additional tickets for 2026 Reign games.
  • Opt out of the USWNT match and get a full refund on the three Reign matches that won't be played at Lumen Field this season.

Features three-game homestand in Spokane before Lumen Field opener in late April.

Tickets for the USWNT match at Lumen Field will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, January 29, at 10 a.m. PT. At that same time, the Reign will offer a ticket bundle that includes seats for the April USWNT match and the Reign’s May 15 home game against Gotham FC.

“Our club is proud to partner with U.S. Soccer to bring the U.S. Women’s National Team back to Seattle for the first time in nearly a decade,” Reign Chief Business Officer Maya Mendoza-Exstrom said in a team release. “Seattle is ready to host the world’s best, and this match marks the beginning of an exciting moment for our club, our players and women’s soccer in our city.”

Mendoza-Exstrom emphasized the city’s historic and present connection to the national team. The news was announced during a pre-game broadcast ahead of the USWNT match against Paraguay, which features three Reign players available on the bench and another two who should feature in the second USWNT match on January 27. Many early national team players also had roots in Washington state, including members of the first-ever USWNT in 1985, a legacy the Reign honored last season during their Queen’s Match.

The Absolute Beginning
Eight members of the first U.S. Women’s National Team were from Washington. On Aug. 18, the Reign celebrates the 40th anniversary of their historic debut.

The April match at Lumen Field is part of a three-game USWNT series against Japan during the April FIFA international window, with additional games scheduled at PayPal Park in San Jose, California (April 11) and Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado (April 17).

The U.S. Women's National Team last came to Seattle in 2017 for the Tournament of Nations — a doubleheader that began with a 1-1 draw between Brazil and Japan and concluded with Australia pulling off a 1-0 upset against the U.S. Lumen Field also hosted a Victory Tour match after the U.S. won the 2015 Women's World Cup. In front of 23,603 fans in October — the largest crowd for a USWNT match in Washington state — the U.S. came from behind to draw 1-1 with Brazil. Seattle should be able to break that record again in April.

Lumen Field also previously hosted a Men's World Cup qualifier between the U.S. and Panama in 2013, which the USMNT won 2-0, and the Copa America Centenario semifinal in 2016 that ended in a 2-1 win for the U.S. against Ecuador.
