Seattle Reign unveiled its 2026 preseason roster ahead of the club's first preseason training session on Thursday, Jan. 22. The preseason roster features 29 players, including 25 signed players and 22 players returning from the 2025 season.

Three newly signed players will join training this week: midfielder Sofia Cedeño and goalkeeper Evan O’Steen, who both trained with the club previously, along with veteran forward Brittany Ratcliffe.

The NCAA champion was previously part of the same Texas youth club as Meza, Adames and McCammon.

Midfielder Jess Fishlock returns for her 14th season in Seattle. She's now the only remaining Reign original on the roster following Lauren Barnes' retirement. Forward Lynn Biyendolo remains on maternity leave, and goalkeeper Cassie Miller is still on the season-ending injury list. Neither player will occupy an active roster spot, leaving three open roster spots.

The Reign invited four non-roster players to participate in preseason: U-18 player Vienna Whipple and recent college graduates Ruby Hladek, Peyton Parsons, and Chloe Seelhoff.

Vienna Whipple, a local U-18 player, is the lone non-roster invitee who plays defense. The high school junior has been called up to several U.S. Youth National Teams and trained with the Reign throughout the 2025 season. She plays for Crossfire SC and runs track for Lakeside, where she finished 2nd in the 400-meter dash (55.32) in the 3A state track meet her sophomore year. The 5' 11" centerback was named an ECNL U-17 All-American in 2015 and recently announced her verbal commitment to play at Stanford after graduating in 2027. As this profile on PrepSoccer.com says, "Whipple's play reminds me of England National Team defender Leah Williamson - the speed, agility, and defensive instincts when reading the game are the carryover traits between the two."

The other three non-roster invitees are listed as forwards, but they played as both attacking midfielders and forwards in college.

Ruby Hladek, who can play as an attacking midfielder or on the wings, recently graduated from Utah Valley, scoring 15 goals and notching 13 assists her senior year. That put her in the top 10 for goals and assists nationally. Hladek is comfortable dribbling in tight spaces and can shoot from distance or find the ball in the box with smart runs. In her senior year, she was named to the United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-Pacific Region and to the First Team All-WAC. Hladek finished her three-year Utah Valley career with 24 goals and 32 assists in 60 games. She spent her first year at BYU, scoring six goals as the Cougars advanced to the NCAA championship game.

Peyton Parsons scored 17 goals and assisted 13 while playing as a forward and midfielder at Texas Tech. She was named to the Big 12 First Team the last two years. Parsons was invited to the NWSL combine in December, a camp in Bradenton, Fla., featuring high-performance exercises, scrimmages, drills, interviews, and classroom sessions for top youth and adult prospects.

Chloe Seelhoff, who grew up in Snohomish and played for Crossfire SC, represented the University of Washington for two years before transitioning to the University of Montana. She featured in 36 games at Montana, scoring 13 goals and adding seven assists as a midfielder. Seelhoff’s efforts earned her Second Team All-Big Sky honors in her junior year, and she had a breakout senior year – scoring seven goals and assisting six enroute to the Big Sky First Team. After breaking her collarbone on Oct. 12, Seelhoff had to sit out the final matches of the 2025 season – but she came onto the pitch and scored a penalty kick with her arm wrapped in a sling to help Montana win the Big Sky Championship in a shootout. Seelhoff spent last summer representing Salmon Bay FC in the USL W, scoring four goals. In her first two years at UW, she scored one goal in 17 matches.

The roster also includes five players currently with the U.S. Women’s National Team: defender Jordyn Bugg, forward Maddie Dahlien, goalkeeper Claudia Dickey, and midfielders Sally Menti and Sam Meza. This is the first senior national team call-up for Dahlien and Menti, while Bugg, Dickey, and Meza all made their USWNT debuts in 2025. The players will join the Reign after the two USWNT matches on Jan. 24 (vs. Paraguay) and Jan. 27 (vs. Chile).
