The Seattle Sounders’ return to Lumen Field will be delayed by a few more days after it was announced that their April 12 home match against Real Salt Lake has been moved to Sept. 23. The Sounders’ next game at Lumen Field will now be on April 15, which is Leg 2 of their Concacaf Champions Cup Quarterfinal against UANL Tigres. At that point, the Sounders will have played eight straight matches away from Lumen Field.

In addition to that game, the home match originally scheduled for Sept. 9 against Sporting KC has been moved to Oct. 1. That move was made to accommodate the Seattle Seahawks, who earned the right to host the opening game of the new NFL season as Super Bowl champions and will be kicking off that day.

The Sounders originally had no matches between Sept. 20-Oct. 9 due to an international window, but will now play two games during that stretch. That is effectively a new window in the FIFA calendar and allows countries to schedule as many as four games, as it combined two previously separate windows from September and October.
