Fresh off beating the Vancouver Whitecaps in Concacaf Champions Cup play, the Seattle Sounders have moved all the way up to No. 3 in the region’s club ranking system. This appears to be the highest the Sounders have ever reached in that index.

The Sounders gained 18 points since the last time the rankings were published, which presumably covers both games against the Whitecaps as well as the road win over the San Jose Earthquakes and road tie against Minnesota United. Of the 175 teams in the rankings, only Nashville SC moved up more (+21) after they beat Inter Miami in CCC and won their two league games in between. The Whitecaps (-25) and Miami (-17) had the biggest point deductions.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the top 6 teams in the rankings, and 7 of the top 8, have advanced to the quarterfinals of CCC. The LA Galaxy are the exception (ranked No. 17), clearly benefitting from a draw that pitted them against Jamaican team Mt. Pleasant in the Round of 16.
