After a slow January, the academy teams were busy this month with a total of 11 games played between all three teams.
The U17 and U19 teams both finished with the same record of 3-1-0, ending the month with victories over Cascadia rivals Vancouver. The U19 had a particularly dominant game this month with a 15-0 win against Atletico Santa Rosa in MLS Next Flex.
The U16 team had a bit of a tougher month finishing 1-0-2, though both losses were only by one goal against Sacramento Republic and San Jose Quakes.
Also of note from an academy perspective is that promising prospects will see some time with the Defiance, who started their season on Sunday. Noah Newman, a 17-year-old goalkeeper and Leo Flores Gonzalez, a 17-year-old striker made the bench but ultimately didn’t get on the field.
