Seattle Reign announced on Monday that two players have been sent on loan to Dallas Trinity FC of the Gainbridge Super League for the remainder of the 2026 NWSL season. Goalkeeper Neeku Purcell and Sofia Cedeño will join former Reign assistant coach Lee Nguyen’s side effective immediately.
“Sofia and Neeku are exactly the type of players we want in our environment,” said Nguyen, now head coach of Dallas Trinity, in a release. “I had the opportunity to work alongside both of them at Seattle Reign FC, and I’ve seen firsthand the quality and character they bring every day. This is a great opportunity for them to earn consistent minutes and continue their development, and I know they’ll make an immediate impact for our group.”
Both players are signed by the Reign through the 2028 NWSL season and have represented the U.S. at the youth national team level. Purcell was recently called into the US U-23 squad, while Cedeño was called into the U-20s and is also eligible to represent Panama. Purcell has prior experience in the Gainbridge Super League, having signed her first pro contract with Brooklyn FC and playing in 17 matches before joining the Reign in June 2025. Cedeño, who was born in Panama and raised in the Dallas area, has one appearance for the Reign and played in 11 matches last year for Halifax Tides of the Northern Super League.

"They're both talented young players with bright futures, and experiences like this are invaluable at this stage of their careers. The Gainbridge Super League season begins on August 15, with each team playing 14 games before a winter break at the end of the year. Purcell was recently spotted playing the second half of a Dallas preseason game before the loan was officially announced.
The moves open two roster spots for the Reign, who now have three available spots and several open international slots. Additionally, Lynn Biyendolo is expected to return from maternity leave later this season, while Ruby Hladek’s short-term contract now runs through the end of August.
