Fresh off their first win in more than four months, the Seattle Sounders will now be attempting to extend their unbeaten streak to a season-long seven games when they face struggling Minnesota United today.

Minnesota United is in the midst of a somewhat improbable run of form in which they’ve scored 17 goals over the past six games but have gone just 1–4–1. That stretch includes a 5–1 win, a 3–3 tie, a 5–4 loss and 3–2 loss in which they blew a 2–0 lead. Their struggles actually stretch back to May 10, when they started what is now a 15-match stretch in which they’ve gone 1–8–6 and been outscored 30–25.

The Loons are further hampered today by the absences of would-be starters Carlos Harvey (international duty), Joaquin Pereyra (lower extremity) and Nectarios Triantis (international duty).

The Sounders haven’t exactly been on fire themselves, but they do seem to have righted the ship after losing eight straight. Over their last six games the Sounders are 1–0–5.
