The Seattle Sounders head back on the road to face the New England Revolution, the No. 2 team in the Eastern Conference. This will be the first of two road games this week and will likely be a good test for how serious of a contender they really are.
Here’s what you need to know:

Injury news
Sounders
OUT: Pedro de la Vega — Quad; Nikola Petković — Knee; Paul Rothrock — Hamstring
Revolution
OUT: Leo Campana — Lower Body; Mamadou Fofana — Lower Body; Jack Harrison — Quad; Alhassan Yusuf — Hamstring
Opposition players to watch
Carles Gil: Now in his eighth season with the Revs, Gil is still as effective as he’s ever been. His 12 goals are already a career high and his 16 goal-contributions put him in reach of 2019, when he burst onto the scene with a 22-goal contribution season. He loves to be on the ball and is a constant danger.
Peyton Miller: The 18-year-old has turned in one of the most productive MLS seasons ever for a teenager, posting seven goals and four assists already and getting called into the United States national team. Look for him to fly in off the wings.
Stats to look smart
+9.2: The Revolution have over-performed their "expected points" by 9.2, which is the second most in the entire league (behind only Nashville SC). If that stat is to be believed, they could be ripe for an upset.
+4.67: The Sounders have over-performed their xPoints this year, too, but virtually all of that has come in the last five games where their 11 points are 4.67 more than expected.
Tactics to impress
- Under Marko Mitrovic the Revolution have become a classic "control and regroup" team. That means they aren’t inclined to do a ton of pressing but like to hold the ball when they do get it. They aren’t interested in chaos, in other words.
- The Sounders, especially at home, display a lot of the same tendencies, but on the road have sometimes been more inclined to press. This would seemingly be a good opportunity for them to get back to that style.
